Greg is a socially-awkward but creative high school senior with a sense of humor who, more-or-less forced by his mother, befriends his classmate Rachel, who has been recently diagnosed with leukemia. Greg and his best friend Earl make low-budget punny spoof films in their spare time and decide to make one about Rachel.
Adapted by writer Jesse Andrews from his novel of the same name, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is an uplifting, feel-good, coming-of-age story that reminds of stereotypical romantic subplots, but cleverly veers away from Hollywood teen dramas, an unexpected piece of teenage cinephilia that will leave you laughing and crying, often at the same time.
Plot summary from IMDb: High schooler Greg, who spends most of his time making parodies of classic movies with his co-worker Earl, finds his outlook forever altered after befriending a classmate who has just been diagnosed with cancer.
Awards: 12 wins & 9 nominations.
