Initially financed on Kickstarter, this low-budget gem tells the story of Dwight, a homeless drop-out who lives in his car, who decides to get revenge after learning that the man who killed his parents has been released from jail.
Brilliantly acted by writer-director-cinematographer Jeremy Saulnier's childhood friend Macon Blair, Blue Ruin stands out for its unusual intense atmosphere and its unpredictable story offers an atypical approach to the classic revenge plot, focusing rather on the consequences of the revenge than the revenge itself.
Plot summary from IMDb: A mysterious outsider's quiet life is turned upside down when he returns to his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Proving himself an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family.
