A British action comedy starring Steve Coogan in the role of Alan Partridge, a fictional radio presenter he has played on various BBC radio and television shows since 1991.
In the movie, a local radio station in Norwich, North Norfolk Digital, has been bought by a multinational conglomerate and is about to be re-branded as "Shape", with members of staff facing layoffs. DJ Alan Partridge is not worried about the change, but his colleague Pat Farrell fears for his job and convinces Alan to sneak a board meeting to convince the new owners to keep him. When Alan discovers that either he or Pat has to go, he betrays him and writes "JUST SACK PAT" on the whiteboard in the meeting room. Pat is then asked to leave.
Later that evening, the new owners of the station host a company party. While Alan is out with his assistant, Lynn, Pat enters the station with a shotgun and holds the staff hostage, demanding his job back. After Alan goes to the police station to report Pat, they make him a negotiator, which sets in motion a chain of events.
Plot summary from IMDb: Radio DJ Alan Partridge is facing uncertain times with his radio station being taken over by a corporate conglomerate. He makes things worse when he talks down a colleague after a promise to talk him up. The colleague handles things badly and takes the radio station into his own hands, literally, by taking them all hostage. Envisioning all his action heroes in his head, Alan is going to save the day by becoming a go-between for the Scotland Yard. His method though will put himself and others in harm's way because Alan Partridge just can't keep his mouth shut.
