Brit Marling (Another Earth, I Origins) teams up with her other director friend, Zal Batmanglij (also, The East) for this captivating low-budget sci-fi indie gem.
An amateur filmmaker and his girlfriend infiltrate a small cult in the San Fernando Valley, with the aim of making a documentary that would expose its charismatic and beatiful leader Maggie (Marling), who claims to be a time traveler from the future.
With a screenplay written by main star Marling and director Batmanglij, without the use of any special effects and CGI, Sound of my Voice is a rare example of intelligent and ambitious genre filmmaking done with the extremely minimal resources and a quietly compelling film that will most likely keep you on the edge of your seat.
