A couple of ideologically opposed homicide detectives from Madrid are sent out to investigate the disappearance and murder of two teenage girls in a little town in the marshes of the Guadalquivir.  Ensnared in a web of intrigue fed by the apathy and introverted nature of the locals, the two men realize they must put aside their professional differences if they are to stop the person responsible for terrorizing the community.

With superb performances from its cast, vibrant color-corrected cinematography and a tension-filled atmosphere set against the political backdrop of post-Franco Spain, this gripping European neo-noir makes a tense, visually sumptuous and hugely entertaining thriller.
