The Danish version of Captain Philips, in which a group of Somali pirates hijack a cargo ship in the Indian Ocean and hold the crew hostage, asking for a ransom of millions of dollars.
The film focuses on the drama of a few of the crew members, among which the ship's cook Mikkel and engineer Jan, as they as they are used by the pirates as a means of communication in the negociations with the the shipping company CEO in Copenhagen.
Tense and full of realistic supense, A Hijacking makes you feel the pain of the hostages and their loved ones, and the tensions of the negociations, whithout descending into any kind of crude melodrama.
Plot summary from IMDb: The cargo ship MV Rozen is heading for harbor when it is hijacked by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. Amongst the men on board are the ship's cook Mikkel and the engineer Jan, who along with the rest of the seamen are taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death. With the demand for a ransom of millions of dollars a psychological drama unfolds between the CEO of the shipping company and the Somali pirates.
