Locke (2013)

Drama

Director: Steven Knight
Writer: Steven Knight
Starring: Tom Hardy, Olivia Colman, Ruth Wilson, Andrew Scott

"You make one mistake, Donal, one little fucking mistake, and the whole world comes crashing down around you."

This combination of talents between writer/director Steven Knight and actor Tom Hardy delivers an iron strong one-man show, that continues to fascinate its viewers.

Ivan Locke has worked hard to ensure a good life for himself. Tonight, however, his whole life is unraveling. On the eve of the biggest challenge of his career, he gets a call that sets in motion a series of events that appear to bring his family, work and soul to an end. Such scenarios are a both a dream amd a serious challenge for actors, because the whole movie is based on their acting ability and with such roles, they can show to the public all the facets of their acting talents.

And also, these are the types of movies where the director too has to be extremely creative to avoid dullness and monotony. And if you can keep captive a man for 90 minutes in a coffin, then you managed to create an exciting movie with only a man behind the wheel.

Plot summary from IMDb: Leaving the construction site on the eve of a major project, construction manager Ivan Locke receives news that sends him driving the two hours from Birmingham to London, but even further from the life he once knew. Making the decision that he has to make, he then calls his wife, his sons, his co-workers and boss telling them the secret that he is bearing and trying to keep his job and family intact. But even more importantly, he will have to face himself and the choices he has made.
